Cris Powell, Psy.D., LCSW
Services Provided

"Cris is a natural healer, with the creativity, compassion and keen intelligence to make therapy an adventure worth taking."

"Cris Powell is a gifted, sensitive analyst whose clinical work during the period of my supervising her has always been of the highest quality."

I provide counseling, psychotherapy, and contemporary psychoanalysis to adults and couples, and children, adolescents, and families.
For eighteen years I specialized with teens and their families, and provided workshops for mental health professionals and childcare
providers.  Sometimes teens and parents appreciate the help of an interpreter who can build a bridge between their different perspectives
and facilitate understanding.  I enjoy coaching parents, helping to work out school issues, and bringing out the best in kids and families.

"Cris has a special fondness for, and deep understanding of, the adolescent psyche.
She can make connection to teenagers in an almost magical way, eliciting their trust,
and enabling them to flourish."  (mother of two teens)

Since 1995, I've maintained a private practice in San Diego where I see a wide range of adults, couples, and families. It has been a pleasure
and an honor to serve the LGBT community for many years, and to work with many different kinds of families.

As an artist and writer, I enjoy working with other artists to facilitate the creative process and remove blocks to creativity.  I also enjoy working with
spiritual issues, and I see a number of people who are recovering from negative experiences with religion or previous therapies.
